1. What Is Green Valley Recreaton Inc.
• Green Valley Recreation, better known as GVR is a non-profit organization serving the leisure and social needs of our active baby boomer community.
• GVR owns and operates twelve Recreation Centers (soon to be thirteen), with a total property value of more than $18 million. GVR provides many services and activities to a private membership base of nearly 13,000 households (an estimated 26,500 individuals).
• GVR is made up of volunteers and a handful of employees. Hundreds of volunteers assist a dedicated staff to help operate year-round programs for both active and passive “boomer lifestyles”.
• Most of our communities have an exemption to the fair housing law as to age and familial status. Anyone, any age, can own a home in Green Valley, however, in the majority of our communities at least one resident must be 55 or over and no permanent resident can be under the age of 18. Your family is always welcome to visit and use our facilities.
• The cost for all this is rather minimal when you look at the big picture. There is a New Member Capital Fee of $2,132.00 paid at the close of escrow of your home; you will only pay that fee once. After that there is an annual fee of $394.00 and is tied to Social Security. It cannot increase more than the increase of Social Security benefits. Some of the clubs charge a small yearly fee, for instance, the wood shop has a yearly fee of $35.00 as does the computer club and camera club.
